In Our Christian Muslim Dialogue Group on Whatsapp, we were discussing about the  St Thomas Christians of South India and their belief and how they eventually changed into the trinity religion of the Rome!

Surprisingly we came across with the modern south Indian Christians whose roots goes back to St Thoma Christians:

The Syro-Malabar Catholic Church is a Major Archiepiscopal Church in full communion with the Apostolic See of Rome. The Church is headed by its Major Archbishop of Ernakulam-Angamaly, Mar George Cardinal Alencherry. It is one of the 23 sui iuris (autonomous) Eastern Catholic Churches in the Catholic communion. It is the second largest Eastern Catholic Church, the largest being the Ukrainian Catholic Church. The Syro-Malabar Church follows the East-Syrian liturgy which dates back to the 3rd century.

Syro-Malabar Catholics, also called “St. Thomas Christians”, trace their origins and faith to the missionary efforts of St. Thomas the Apostle, who landed at Kodungallur in Kerala, India, in 52 AD. St. Thomas was martyred at Mylapur, Chennai, India, in 72 AD, after preaching and establishing Christian communities in different parts of India.
Until the late 16th century, Bishops were appointed and sent by the Patriarch of the East Syrian Church, who governed the St. Thomas Christians. However, the arrival of the Portuguese in India marked a new era in the life of the Church. Hierarchically they were brought under the rule of the Latin Bishops after the Synod of Diamper.

In 1653 in the infamous ‘Coonan Cross Oath’ at Mattancherry, many St. Thomas Christians vowed to disobey the Latin hierarchy. Thus began a rift among St. Thomas Christians, who were one Church until that time. Eventually, some returned to the jurisdiction of the Latin rule to be in communion with the Pope, while others stood firm in their stand of opposition to the Portuguese.
Those who continued under the Latin rule formed the community that became the Syro-Malabar Church. Those who remained opposing the Portuguese encountered the Jacobite Patriarch and eventually became Jacobites, of which a fraction reunited with the Catholic Communion in 1930;they are now known as the Syro-Malankara Church.

Finally, after 230 years of Latin governance, the Syro-Malabar Church hierarchy was established in India, in 1923.  Since then it has grown rapidly, and in 1992 Pope John Paul ll elevated it to the status of a Major Archiepiscopal Sui iuris Church with the title of Ernakulam-Angamaly. It is one of the four Major Archiepiscopal Churches, the other three being the Syro-Malankara Church, Ukrainian Church and the Romanian Church.

This the description we read above , how the Malabar Christians describe their historical root! So we must know the truth and we must educate people who are ignorant of their ancient roots and make them understand how the followers of the disciples of Jesus Christ (Peace be upon him) were believing and worshipping the God of Jesus and not Trinity!

So that those brave ones from among them understand the truth and can return to the pure creed and way!
[11:10, 12/23/2018] Discover Islam: This is what a few days ago I was explaining from our spirituality! How the Roman Catholic eventually overtake the st Thomas (Nazarene)Christians!

Just as the disciples all the direct followers of the 12 disciples were  pure monotheistic Christians and they were believing in Jesus Christ as the Muslims believe. They believed in Christ as the Messiah and  believed in the last Prophet Ahmad (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)

Due to this reason, they called Baptism as “Mahmmodisa” and this name of Baptism existed with in the Aramaic- Syriac Christians , even today the Baptism is known as “Mamodisa immersion” by many of the Christians!

Mammodisa is a slang version of “Muhammad-Isa” the Baptism mentioned in Matthew 28:19.  The Baptism in the Name of God,Messiah  (Peace be upon him) and Spirit of Truth Ahmad (Peace be upon him)

They were called Nasrani  (Nazarene) Christians in India , they still use that title , and they don’t understand that the earliest Christians who followed St Thomas were worshippers of One God , not trinity or Jesus Christ

The Word “Nasrani” is a slang form of  the word “Nazarene” , poor Christians in South India does not know who are Nazarene Christians!. When they research and find out who are Nazarene Christians, that’s the moment of truth  they will known the truth and truth shall set them free and they will embrace Islam! They don’t research what Nasrani means In the history!

Because their history is reshaped by Syrian orthodox after the era of the direct followers of st Thomas, after a couple of generations?then when Catholic church arrived they took over the church. And Nazarene and Syrian orthodox legacy declined

That’s how The Nazarene Nasrani became Syrian orthodox and Syrian orthodox became Latin and Catholic!

The legacy of Nazarene which is the worship of one true God as Muslims and Jewish followers of Christ and Jews themselves!

Disciples went in on their ministries around the world, not even one time we can see they worship Jesus nor they instruct their followers to worship Jesus!

Earlier Christians even in India where it is said Thomas went there, they were Called Nazarene (Nasrani) , Nasrani were monotheistic followers as the disciples, then Syrian orthodox church came and made them Syrian Christians , then later in the colonialism came western Churches!

Many of them still have legacy of Syrian orthodox church!
but they still remember the title Nasrani, but not knowing what it means to be a Nasrani In the ancient Day!

They called baptism “Mammodisa, which is Mohammad-isa! The baptism of faith in ISA and Muhammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon them)!
Because some words and titles remained in them! When the Syrian orthodox introduced their version of Christianity the Nazarene version preached by st Thomas and disciples
which faded, when western CHRISTIANITY came and introduced their Greek oriented Bible, the Syrian orthodox Christian idea Eventually faded!
And that’s how Christianity changed its structure over the time!
According to Epiphanius in his Panarion, the 4th-century Nazarenes (Ναζωραιοι) were originally Jewish converts of the Apostles[17] who fled Jerusalem because of Jesus’ prophecy of its coming siege (during the Great Jewish Revolt in 70 AD). They fled to Pella, Peraea (northeast of Jerusalem), and eventually spread outwards to Beroea and Basanitis, where they permanently settled (Panarion 29.3.3).[18]
The Nazarenes were similar to the Ebionites, in that they considered themselves Jews, maintained an adherence to the Law of Moses, and used only the Aramaic Gospel of the Hebrews, rejecting all the Canonical gospels and the concept of Jesus being the Son of God which they deemed of Hellenist origin. However, unlike half of the Ebionites, they accepted the Virgin Birth.
As late as the eleventh century, Cardinal Humbert of Mourmoutiers still referred to the Nazarene sect as a Sabbath-keeping Christian body existing at that time.[21] Modern scholars believe it is the Pasagini or Pasagians who are referenced by Cardinal Humbert, suggesting the Nazarene sect existed well into the eleventh century and beyond (the Catholicwritings of Bonacursus entitled “Against the Heretics”). It is believed that Gregorius of Bergamo, about 1250 CE, also wrote concerning the Nazarenes as the Pasagians.
The following creed is from a church at Constantinople at the same period, and condemns practices of the Nazarenes:
I renounce all customs, rites, legalisms, unleavened breads & sacrifices of lambs of the Hebrews, and all other feasts of the Hebrews, sacrifices, prayers, aspersions, purifications, sanctification and propitiation and fasts, and new moons, and Sabbaths, and superstitions, and hymns and chants and observances and Synagogues, and the food and drink of the Hebrews; in one word, I renounce everything Jewish, every law, rite and custom and if afterwards I shall wish to deny and return to Jewish superstition, or shall be found eating with the Jews, or feasting with them, or secretly conversing and condemning the Christian religion instead of openly confuting them and condemning their vain faith, then let the trembling of Gehazi cleave to me, as well as the legal punishments to which I acknowledge myself liable. And may I be anathema in the world to come, and may my soul be set down with Satan and the devils.”
(However this statement  of another Church against the practice of Nazarene contradict Matthew 5:17-20)
“Nazarenes” are referenced past the fourth century AD as well. Jacobus de Voragine (1230–98) described James as a “Nazarene” in The Golden Legend, vol 7. Thomas Aquinas (1225–74) quotes Augustine of Hippo, who was given an apocryphal book called Hieremias (Jeremiah in Latin) by a “Hebrew of the Nazarene Sect”, in Catena Aurea — Gospel of Matthew, chapter 27. So this terminology seems to have remained at least through the 13th century in European discussions.
Nazarene beliefs:
The beliefs of the Nazarene sect or sects are described through various church fathers and heresiologists.
in Jesus as Messiah:
The Nazarenes… accept Messiah in such a way that they do not cease to observe the old Law.
— Jerome, On. Is. 8:14
in the Virgin Birth:
They believe that Messiah, the Son of God, was born of the Virgin Mary.
— Jerome, Letter 75 Jerome to Augustine
Adhering to circumcision and the Law of Moses:
They disagree with Jews because they have come to faith in Christ; but since they are still fettered by the Law – circumcision, the Sabbath, and the rest – they are not in accord with the Christians.
— Epiphanius of Salamis, Panarion 29.7.4
Use of Old Testament and New Testament:
They use not only the New Testament but the Old Testament as well, as the Jews do.
— Epiphanius of Salamis, Panarion 29.7.2
Use of Hebrew and Aramaic New Testament source texts:
They have the Gospel according to Matthew in its entirety in Hebrew. For it is clear that they still preserve this, in the Hebrew alphabet, as it was originally written.
— Epiphanius of Salamis, Panarion 29.9.4
And he [Heggesippus the Nazarene] quotes some passages from the Gospel according to the Hebrews and from the Syriac [the Aramaic], and some particulars from the Hebrew tongue, showing that he was a convert from the Hebrews, and he mentions other matters as taken from the oral tradition of the Jews.
— Eusebius of Caesarea, Ecclesiastical History 4.22
There are more to say on this but we let the readers to research on and find the truth!
