DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TORAH AND THE JEWISH TORAH:
Jewish Torah is not the Torah of Prophet Moses (a.s)
In the Name of Allah Most Merciful Most Beneficent
Torah is the complete revelation of Law and Commandments which God directly gave to Prophet Moses (alaihissalam), in it’s fullness.
The Jewish Torah is a scripture that was written more than three centuries after Prophet Musa alaihissalam. It contains some verses from the Torah of Prophet Moses (A.S) just as parts of the New Testament contain the spoken words of Christ!
In which the authors of Jewish Torah await a Prophet like Moses (a.s) and could not see a Prophet Like Moses (A.S) since then (see Deuteronomy 34:10)
We Muslims believe, the Torah is the revelations which Prophet Moses (Peace be upon him) received as Laws and Commandment from Allah Almighty.
But in the Jewish Torah, we do see Exodus chapter 18, which is the conversation between Prophet Moses and Prophet Jethro (Peace be upon him)
And Prophet Jethro (A.S) giving so many instructions to Prophet Musa (A.S), which are not Torah!
As even Jews agree: Jethro (a.s) did not give Torah to Musa (alahissalam). But in Exodus 18,Prophet Musa (A.S) followed the instructions of Jethro (a.s) !
Prophet Jethro (Peace be upon him) is a Prophet from the Ishmaelite covenants , who has the authority to give advise to the Prophets of Israel. But Prophets of Israel cannot order the Ishmaelite Prophets because their covenant is binding only to the Israelites , only for the descendants of Isaac (peace be upon him)
See Genesis 17: 18 And Abraham said to God, “Oh that Ishmael might live before You!” 19 But God said, “No, but Sarah your wife will bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac; and I will establish My covenant with him for an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him
So we can see that the Israelites Prophets including Christ (A.S) coming with their covenants only for the Israelites (see Matthew 15:24) , not for whole nations. But God Bless whole world through the Prophets who come from the line of Ishmael (A.S) in Kedar (see Isaiah 42:11-18)
This is why when Christ returns he follows the covenants of the Last Prophet (alaihiswalathu wa salam) and will not adopt previous scriptures as it was only for Israelites!
See Exodus 18:13The next day Moses took his seat to serve as judge for the people, and they stood around him from morning till evening. 14 When his father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he said, “What is this you are doing for the people? Why do you alone sit as judge, while all these people stand around you from morning till evening?”0 Teach them his decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to live and how they are to behave. 21 But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. 22 Have them serve as judges for the people at all times, but have them bring every difficult case to you; the simple cases they can decide themselves. That will make your load lighter, because they will share it with you. 23 If you do this and God so commands, you will be able to stand the strain, and all these people will go home satisfied.”
27 Then Moses sent his father-in-law on his way, and Jethro returned to his own countrymen from all Israel and made them leaders of the people, officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. 26 They served as judges for the people at all times. The difficult cases they brought to Moses, but the simple ones they decided themselves.
27 Then Moses sent his father-in-law on his way, and Jethro returned to his own country.
What Jethro (A.S) spoken to Musa (A.S) is not Torah, Jethro (A.S) is a Prophet of Median . Christians and Jews believe that Jethro (A.S) was a priest!
But we do understand that a Prophet in higher status like Musa (A.S) is not obliged to follow the advise of a mere priest!
This is the evident for Christians and Jews that Jethro (A.S) was a Prophet to whom Musa (A.S) did listen and obeyed!, There were other Prophets with Nabi Musa (A.S) and they were subordinates to Musa (A.S). And we see precedence of Jethro (A.S) over Israelites.
Jewish Torah also explains the death of Prophet Musa (A.S), and what happened after that, and it could not be from the writings of Musa (A.S)
Deuteronomy 34: NIV
The Death of Moses
1Then Moses climbed Mount Nebo from the plains of Moab to the top of Pisgah, across from Jericho. There the Lord showed him the whole land—from Gilead to Dan, 2 all of Naphtali, the territory of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Mediterranean Sea, 3the Negev and the whole region from the Valley of Jericho, the City of Palms, as far as Zoar. 4Then the Lord said to him, “This is the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob when I said, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your eyes, but you will not cross over into it.”
5 And Moses the servant of the Lord died there in Moab, as the Lord had said. 6He buried him in Moab, in the valley opposite Beth Peor, but to this day no one knows where his grave is.7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, yet his eyes were not weak nor his strength gone.8The Israelites grieved for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days, until the time of weeping and mourning was over.
9 Now Joshua son of Nun was filled with the Spirit of wisdom because Moses had laid his hands on him. So the Israelites listened to him and did what the Lord had commanded Moses.
10Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11who did all those signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.
Issue 1: Deuteronomy 34:5 is Speaking about the death of Prophet Musa (Moses, Peace be upon him). This could not be written by Prophet Musa alaihissalam. It is clear that unknown people writing Jewish scriptures centuries after Prophet Moses (Peace be upon him)
Issue 2: “To this day, no one knows, where his grave is”. Someone is saying centuries after Prophet Musa’s time (alaihissalam) that no one knows where his grave. We can see that it is not the writings of Prophet Musa (alaihissalam) generation. Nor those who came after them. Because it is clear that He was buried in Moab, according to that verse. But after generations, they lost the knowledge and did not know where exactly in Moab he was buried.
But today, Muslims preserve the tomb of Prophet Musa alaihissalam. Through the Sainthood of the Advocate, Prophet Muhammad alaihiswalathu wa Salam, it is known to us the grave of Prophet Musa alaihissalam.
Issue 3: Some Christians claim that God directly came and buried prophet Musa alaihissalam body, that’s why no one knew where it was. This is another lie. Because God has given the Laws and they should bury according to the principles of the Laws. Secondly, God has decreed that Israelites will not see God’s Great Fire nor hear His Voice. (See Deuteronomy 18:15-18). Thirdly, if such a powerful miracle had happened, then it would have been recorded in the Old Testament, just like splitting the sea during Exodus , the signs and wonders God did among Israel. But there is no such thing in the books.
Issue 4: The Christians say, only Christ (Peace be upon him) gave the Holy Spirit to others after His Mission. But we can see in Deuteronomy 34:9 Prophet Musa alaihissalam giving the power of Holy Spirit to Joshua (alaihissalam) by placing his hand on Joshua (alaihissalam).
See Isaiah 11:2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him– the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD-–
So we can see that Prophet Joshua (alaihissalam) receiving Holy Spirit from Prophet Musa alaihissalam, refutes the Christian claim that: Only Jesus (alaihissalam) received Holy Spirit first, and Only Jesus can give the power of Holy Spirit to someone is in vain. As we see here, Prophet Musa alaihissalam giving Holy Spirit to Joshua (Peace and blessings of Allah Be upon them).
According to the New Testament, Christ received Holy Spirit only after he was Baptized with the Baptism of repentance by John the Baptiser (Yahya alaihissalam) in the Jordan river.
So we can see that Christ (Peace be upon him) is more like Prophet Joshua (alaihissalam) who came to establish the Torah of Musa alaihissalam and to Spiritually purify people with the works similar to Prophet John the Baptist (alaihissalam) and to wage war against infidels as Joshua alaihissalam) did, which is to serve the law of Nabi Musa alaihissalam and to lead disciples as Prophet John the Baptist (alaihissalam) and to fight unbelievers as Prophet Joshua alaihissalam fought. That is how Christ was appointed to fulfil the Laws of the Prophets (See Matthew 5:17:20).
We get a different Romanised Gentile version of Christ’s Mission story from the churches, when those stories have nothing to do with the Torah and Original Message (Narrow path) of Christ. We hear about an easy free gift, “Jesus Paid it all”. When Christ returns, he is going pay for lawless and law breakers. That is, he is going to kill and destroy them, (S Matthew 13:41, 2 Thessalonians 2:8-9) including the Christians who make miracles in the name of Christ, but does not do the Will of God. See Matthew 7:20 onwards.
In the second coming, Christ (Peace be upon him) is coming back to establish the Laws of the Quran and Commandments of the Last Prophet the Advocate Nabi Muhammad alaihiswalathu wa Salam (Job 16:19, 19:25, John 16:7-10-14) just as he came to establish the laws of the Prophets of Israel which were only for Israel. So Christ will be implementing the Laws of the Quran and the way of Prophet Muhammad alaihiswalathu wa Salam (see Hadith on the Last Deputiship on Prophetic Methodologies) as he did for the way of John the Baptist in the First coming. In such a parable, we can see that all the ways of the Prophets have summarised (concluded) in Islamic Schools of Spirituality (Tasawwuf) and is based on the Quran and Sunnah.
Issue 5: Deuteronomy 34:10-12 confirm that the authors of Jewish Torah writing it so many centuries after Prophet Musa alaihissalam. Since the death of Prophet Musa (alaihissalam) they looked for a Prophet, who is to be like Moses (alaihissalam), as God promised (see Deuteronomy 18:18-19), though many Prophets came, they were not in the likeness of Prophet Musa alaihissalam. So it is clear that today’s Jewish Torah was not written by any prophets, but written by priests of a deviated group (lost sheep to whom Christ and the Prophets like Zechariah and Yahya came) Peace and blessings of Allah Be upon them) .
This is enough evident that Old Testament Jewish Torah is not the Torah of Musa (A.S) which God had revealed to him with Laws and commandments. Jewish Torah is a biography about Prophets and their followers as written by some priests in later centuries.
Just like the New Testament book codexes , Jewish Torah were written by different Jewish priests time to time.
